Deze werd gefinancierd door de families Waller-Cock en Duwaer. Hij staat op de berg die 27 meter boven NAP ligt. In 1944 werd de wijk Trompenberg gebombardeerd. Bij dit bombardement is de toren ook getroffen en de spits verwoest.
